Essential
Interior painting
What they type“interior painters Auckland”, “cost to paint a 3 bedroom house NZ”
A want rather than a need, and usually one room at a time before it becomes the whole house. The questions are domestic ones nobody in the trade thinks to answer: how long we are in the house, whether the furniture has to go, what happens about the smell, whether we work around a baby's sleep, and whether the ceilings are in the price or extra. Answering those is what turns a browse into a phone call, because the person reading has already decided they want it done and is looking for a reason to start.
02
Essential
Exterior painting, and what moves the price
What they type“exterior house painting cost Auckland”, “house painters near me”
The biggest search in the trade and the one most painting sites answer with a photograph and a contact form. What actually moves the number: the cladding, the storeys, the access, the state of what is on there now, how much of it has to come back to timber, whether there is scaffolding, the joinery, the soffits, the fence. A range with the reasons attached beats no figure at all, and beats a figure with nothing behind it by a distance — because the reader's next move is to hold it against another one.
03
Standard
What is actually in the price
What they type“why are painting quotes so different”, “what should a painting quote include NZ”
The page this whole site would build you first, and almost nobody in the trade has one. Not a sales page — a plain account of what your price covers and what it does not: the surfaces, what is done to them before anything is opened, the products and the finishes, how many coats and over what, what is masked, what is excluded, and what happens when rot or lead turns up on day two. It is the only page that makes your quote readable against a cheaper one, and it is useful to somebody who ends up hiring nobody, which is exactly why it gets read and shared.

Standard
House washing, moss and preparation work
What they type“house washing Auckland”, “soft wash house exterior price”
The small job that is often the first one somebody gives you, and the audition for the repaint two years later. Worth its own page for that reason alone, and because the searches are entirely separate from the painting ones — a person looking for a wash is not looking for a painter yet. Small ticket, high intent, and it puts you on the property with a ladder and a conversation.
05
Standard
Plastering, stopping and surface repairs
What they type“gib stopping Auckland”, “plaster repair before painting”
Half the trade does this and hardly any of them say so on a website, which means the work goes to somebody who does. It also carries an argument for you by itself: a business that lists the repair work separately is visibly one that does it rather than paints over it, and that lands with a reader who has been told by somebody that preparation is where the money goes and has no way of checking who means it.
06
Standard
Rentals, body corporate and commercial
What they type“commercial painters Auckland”, “body corporate painting contractor”
A completely different customer — a property manager, a body corporate committee, a facilities contact — and one who pays on time, comes back annually and never haggles the way a homeowner does. They want different things on a page: insurance, health and safety at height, how you work around tenants and trading hours, whether you can stage a large job over two budget years, and who they ring when you are not answering. Most painting sites are written entirely for the homeowner, so this one is often an open goal.
07
Standard
Finished work, by job and dated
What they type“house painters Auckland reviews”, “villa repaint before and after”
Not a scrolling wall of thumbnails. A handful of jobs given a page each — the house, what was on it, what was done, how long it took, and the photographs in order including the ugly middle ones. This is the page that does the work section 03 describes, and it is the only place on a painting website where the invisible half of the job can be shown rather than asserted.
08
Lead Engine
Suburb pages, for the areas you actually cover
What they type“painter Papakura”, “house painters Takapuna”
One page for each area you genuinely work, and only where there is something true to say: the age and cladding of the housing stock, what the sun and the salt do on that side of the city, the covenants in the newer subdivisions, the streets where access decides the price. Six honest ones are worth more than thirty spun ones, and thirty spun ones do damage.
Eight is not a requirement. We would rather build four that match the work you want more of than eight that match a template, and the tier is chosen from that rather than the other way round. The tiers are set out in full on the homepage.
